Alot of 56k'ers are under the impression that when they fight someone who has cable, they are getting the short end of the stick.

That is just not true...and actually, its the cable guy who is getting the shaft!

let me explain this..
If theres anything you take from this post, its that you can only receive data as quickly as its being sent to you.

A really good 56k modem with new phone line, can only receive data at about 4.5k a second, and send data at 3.5k a sec....Remember that...a cable connection can't magically transform the 3.5k a sec your sending out, into 150k a sec.

When 2 connections come together to do anything, whatever they are doing will run at the speed of the lowest connection...

So everyone with a 56k, stop thinking the cable guy has an advantage. Because truthfully. Your receiving data at 4k a sec, while the other guy is receiving data at the 3k a sec your sending out...

That is a fact!

The plain and simple truth is that if you have a 56k, it wont matter what version your running, you have the advantage against a broadband user...Because your info is being sent slower than the info your receiving.

The only advantage a cable guy has over you is that you'll never be able to play it as smoothly as he will if he's playing another broadband user.

Take this knowlege and spread it like fire to those who do not understand :biggrin:
