Who are the best players ever to play this game?

Hopefully, this project becomes a success. I want input from knowledgeable people (basically, people who won't post stupid posts or don't back up their posts). If you post, make sure you have a reference of your posts, meaning, back it up! What I want to do here is:

-Find out the best players are in the game
-Compare different eras (2001 vs. 2004 for example)
-Fighters reactions
-Debate!

What I want to start out with is posting a top 25 list (In no particular order) for each month in the game (August 2001, September 2001, etc...). After we have done that, we can deduct to who was the best for each month. And then start deducting for each month of the game, till we get to who was the best in the game. If you have any questions thinking this is impossible, then will be glad to prove you wrong. All inputs are wanted (but they have to be reasonable and backed up).
