Well George Bush is messing with social security, and to be honest..that's very bad...

I know alot of people like to have access to all there funds/savings...

But the 401k plan is probally one of the few things I have to look forward to as a blue collar worker....after I retire.

I'm just saying if he messes with social security....

It may become more difficult to get loans and well help funds...

Alot of things..please voice your opinion on the matter...

Up raising teens that plan to work......and those that already work...

I feel sorry for the americans. I say that in the most sincere manner. Hopefully they find a solution to this soon.

Whether he messes with SS or not, we should never rely on it. People are bad with money, and try to rely on things for later in life. It doesn't work that way. Children are even worse, they work and spend their money easily. Start saving now. Get a program. Read books, get smart with money NOW. It will pay off HUGE later. Never get debts or loans either. If you play your cards right, all you need is CASH.

With no debt you get to keep all your income. Need to save your money. Then you can afford retirement regardless of what SS is then.

I'm not in debt warmor as hard as that's to believe..

I've saved the majority of my tax returns and used 20% of each tax return on myself.

Warmor the 401k plan is like an insured plan for your retirement...

it's like a bonus for working your whole life?

Let's say I saved ad got my 401k that would mean complete ownage for me...

as an old man...

But I don't want to be worried about being poor as an old man warmor...

And int he world of today man....sometimes you have to tap into saved funds....

The 401 k plan is a plan inwhich I wont ahve to stress so bad when I'm to old to work anymore...

best way to not have to worry about your cash in here is just invest in houses !
you buy a DUPLEX or a TRIPLEX and then arrange it a bit and then when you'll be over paying it you'll have lots of cash coming in !

that doesn't work if you buy it at 50 years but if you buy it at the age of 20 then you'll be making cash like mad !

401k is good, investing is good. You NEED to invest your money properly. Then in the years ahead it will pay off. The hard part is putting your money into it and waiting, without taking any out.

[color=#810541]We are discussing this matter seriously in Economics class. Many don't realize but when SS first started it was a plan for the future. People paid taxes for SS, and when they get old they have SS. So SS was originally designed to be a "pay as you go" system. Now here is where the government began to flip up...

They began to borrow money from SS aka our taxes! They borrowed so much that SS didn't have enough to support people, so SS borrowed money form other funds and on and on it went until we had to borrow from other countries.

Well, this will come as a shock to some, but as of today our debt to other countries is rapidly exceeding 8 trillion dollars. Taxes provide about 2.2 trillion a year which is just enough to sustain us. So with the way the US is going. The debt will continue to rise, until neither, the state nor the federal government can no longer support SS, Welfare, SSI and other important programs that house, feed and shelter the poor. Or instead of taxing 33% on our pay check they will simply start taking 50% or even more in order to afford SS!

People don't realize this but we will all probably end up in DEEP POOP when we get older. I don
