I attempted to start this on another forum, but it just didn't take off, so I'll try here.
Which game series was the best in Street Fighter and why? Were games better back when there were fewer options, or do the new options like air blocking/parrying allow for a better more well-rounded game? Example: Street Fighter II Turbo versus Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Was the Street Fighter games better back in the SFII series, with fewer options and more limited (but ultimately faster) combos and a lack of high-damage super moves, or are SFIII games better for having these things and more? You can debate between any SF games with different systems to try to win the debate between old and new system's merits. Please do not compare and contrast hyper fighting (XMvSF, MSHvSF, MvC, MvC2) and your standard SF fighting games. GO! P.S. - keep this a debate. Don't just chime in and say, "gme x iz mah favirete!" or anything like that, please. Dan sits and waits for the veterans.

he asked u to debate dumbarse
lol sorry Dan u didnt expect me ... i really like all the options but 4 some reason they just dont add it all in one... i like games like cvssnk1 and sfa3 not sf 3 becuz of they completely new style not sf 2 becuz of the older version of sfa3 and cvssnk1 why? cvssnk1 and sfa3 has dashing/rolling, hypers, combos, guard block, etc.. they have fast and the original gameplay, its simple and it works..

Well this is an opinion(that's for sure). It's somewhat hard to debate which one is better. The new schoolers will say 3rd strike, the old schoolers will say SF2: Turbo, but I myself will say SF2: Turbo, why?
Even with the cast of characters: 12(SF2: Turbo) to 20(3rd strike), About every character from SF2: Turbo is unique, and useful. Turbo: ------- Guile Blanka E Honda Ryu Ken Chunli Zangief Dhalsim Balrog Vega Sagat Bison Every character is useful, and every character can win, whether the odds or very low. Now look at 3rd Strike: Alex Sean Necro Ibuki Urien Akuma Yang Twelve Hugo Gill Remy Yun Ryu Ken Dudley Makato Chunli Elena Oro Q Most of these characters aren't unique, and they are very unbalanced Q: pointless Oro: oy... Elena: weak character Makato: Ryu rip off Remy: downgrade of charlie, and Guile Necro: AHAHAAHAAHA!!!! Twelve: play dough Sean: I like Sean, but he's a rip off copy of the shotos Now SF2:T offers skill, and makes some characters have unique advantages, and disadvantages, for instance: Zangief is big and slow, he has good strength, and great durability, but his attacks require you to rotate the joystick which is hard. Ryu/Ken are very average, average speed, strength, durability... they have the usual projectile, and anti-air which is what makes them good. Dhalsim is slow, terrible strength, terrible durability, but he has a lot of range in his attacks which make him dominate. Like I said before, every character had a chance in SF2: T Now 3rd strike: Sean is average, but a lot of his attacks whiff, and make Sean vulnerable after doing his attack Necro is no Dhalsim, he doesn't have as good range as Dhalsim, and his attacks stink. The only good characters you need to choose to win are Chunli, and Ken. Now the parry system, it is a good system yes, blocking projectiles, and taking no damage, but sometimes it can get very repetitive, and it can seperate the best players to the worst HUGELY. EVen though the best SF2 player would kick the crap out of the worst, 3rd strike stretches this so much. I mean Parrying Oro's EXed Yagyou Dama, thats 3 super bars of waste. in Sf2: T there were no supers so there was no "broken character" Well that's all I have to say for now. I'll recommend Turbo to new schoolers who like those fancy graphics, even if they hate it, Turbo takes so much skill in a fighting game. |

Old School Games were better...
Because those games had Strategy, unlike the new games.. Those games were about who's better, not who can do more Hadoukens and raise their Power Bar and do a move that can kill you Instantly. So, in my opinion... SNES: SF games were better... ( Besides that SF: Movie game. )

I have played about all of the SF games and like StreetFighter Alpha 3...this game in my opinion dominates all the SF games...I have it for ps1...great game.
I do agree with all of you guys that the older fighting games were better...like Mortal Kombat.
