Beats of rage - Street of rage engine

for those who do not know about this... the dreamcast scene is well alive with many developpers doing homebrews with it. some also works on PC projects writen in a language easily portable to other consoles.

thanks to NEIL CORLET, dreamcast developper who ported this awesome engine to the DC and PS2 even including XBOX.

ok, what is BEATS OF RAGE ?
It is an homebrew (Software developped at home) which is a based off the greatest BEAT EM UP of the time on genesis (mega drive). the game was called STREET OF RAGE... there was 3 in the series and even tho everyone wanted a fourth game, it never hapenned.

The 4 friends who made this up, wanted to bring back that BEAT EM UP genre again, because by today's standard, that kind got down quite fast. it is howerver a great style of play for those wanting to kick some asses.

What's so special about it ?
well it has many features which led to many many things hapenning about it.
some are...
- 2 player cooperative play
- simple attacks
- simple grabs
- 1 free special
- 1 super (which hits everything around the char and makes you lose some life)

too bad you cannot run yet and it probably won't happen soon, tho one of the guy wants to continu on it and implement running.

the best ability it has... is the MODIFICATION subject. if you know MUGEN. tell yourself that the game is the same. the levels are TXT which loads images and animate them. its as easy as modifying a text file. but unfortunetly it is only the characters and levels you can edit, many of the things there aren't editable !

Why would i download this ?
because it is worth it, even tho it's not from a great company which whom developped the greatest game named FINAL FIGHTS and STREET OF RAGE. the game is very good and uses SNK characters !

also, there are many many modifications coming up for that engine which will make the playability of this engine, a must to have for your DREAMCAST !

MODIFICATIONS includes...
- TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES : RAPHAEL IS MISSING
- CASTLEVANIA : SYMPHONIE OF DESTRUCTION (direct SOTN sequel for PSX)
- MEGAMAN
- SAMURAI PIZZA CAT
- NINTENDO VS SEGA
and the first DBZ game on DREAMCAST.
- DRAGONBALL Z - THE CLONE SAGA (very great, made by those MUGENOW GUYS which brought mugen to its greatest achievement with the series DRAGONBALL Z MUGEN EDITION)

and a few others that will be worth while !

seriously, i like that game a lot and it is worth it.
those who are like me and loves the genre will and must download this. one thing i warn you about tho... there seems to be some speed glith on the PC version, nothing too much... but noticable. but up to now, the DC version seems flawless !

the authors are working on a new engine right now, it won't be a sequel, but it will be an very updated ENGINE, which will include running, throwing things and even a 4 player gameplay for the dreamcast users ! it will, by what they said, contain whole new original characters and whole new original musics, unlike this first game !
