Good point. Racism is far from gone in the USA. I see it everyday, not just in the entertainment business. Everytime I go to the movies, it seems that more people of the same race as the main character will go see it.

Why do you guys have to see it in black 'n white? What does it matter if there is more of one race chosen for a movie...I go to see a movie because I wanna go see it not because of the race of the person in the movie or because I might relate to the person. Like a lot of black folk 'round here went to go see that stupid Amittyville Horror movie not because of the race of the main character but because they wanted to or they were bored.

The facts are when someone writes a script they have a special person in mind maybe because of what it deals with or where it is or just because they like that actor/actress.

And your too closed minded. There is a lot of shows with main characters as women and no whites...or a very important co actress...

Girlfriends...no "main" white character...lots of main woman characters
Half n Half....no "main" white character...2 main woman characters
Brandy....I think there was a main white person but I can't remember...main female character
The L Word...Woman galore
Tru Calling...main character=woman
Alias....main character=woman...somewhat mixed cast
One on One....main character=Girl....somewhat mixed cast
Joan of Arcadia...I never saw the show...but the main character is a female i think
ER...has a mixed cast
I'll even throw in Dark Angel and Buffy.

So there you go VF...lots of female roles and some are not sexist....

Oh and Sahara has Peneople Cruz...a hispanic main female character.
And the whole point of The Interpetor is to protect the African head of state who is black. And open your mind what does it matter what the race of the person as long as they can act.

Because the writers choose to write a shows with mostly blacks or whites or whatever because it relates to them.

They write how they see the world or how they grew up in it. If a writer wrote about something they knew nothing about...they would probably get a lot of critiques saying how off the protrayed someone. If you want it to change maybe you should start to write some shows.

Well, ok there was that Talia show or whatever it was called on Nick and there was that show about a hispanic family and this little boy was the main character...The Brothers Garcia. And there are always soap operas to look at...they are usually full of different races...at least Passions is. It may not be a leading role but it's something. I'll even use Dora the explorer...

Those arn't shows led by latinos.

First off, relity shows SUCK.

Second, the only reason they have charectors that are true to life is because it's REALITY. No poop they're gonna have a real interpritation of racial struggles, or a mixed cast, becuase it's reality, and they try to make it REAL.

You just said it...Friends. And how about ER? Even that new one Gray's Ananomy. Even Will and Grace...it's not about Will or Grace it's about both of them and their friends.

ER is also on at 10:00, since they deal with REAL issues.

And will and grace's gimmic is they have gay people on it, not mixed casts.

They have to have atleast ONE minority on their show, which still isn't proving your point.

Jack and Bobby takes place in current years....and there's the black guy who likes the white girl.

As I said before, they have to stick true to the story of those damn kennedy boys.

But without the African guy...who would be to protect...what would be the plot?

I saw a commercial for that movie.

The entire commercial only showing white faces and ONE white hand, clutching a sniper rifle.

-What does race matter as long as the person can act?
-it's the script writer's movie and if he wants an all whatever cast then let him have it. If you want it to change then you write a script that people would want to see made on screen
-And why are you acting like the minorites are the only ones with struggles...like I said DiCaprio had to struggle.

So if you write a story about a family, is it fair to say "Sorry, black person, my story only has white people, so you don't get the job"

So you see. They can't just add races in because they want or because you're unhappy. It has to make sense. And it has to reach out to the public that may be view that channel. Like UPN is pretty much the black channel. And WB is kinda the white channel. And ABC is diverse. Each race has their own problem. How would it look if a black person was talking about the holocaust and how Hitler tried to kill his white Jewish Family? Or how about a white man talking about how his ancestors were taken from Africa to be slaves?

Again, like I said before they choose a specific race to make it accurate.

Yeah, it is segrated, but it's segrated for a reason. To deal with issues that most people of that race can relate to. Like I remember one time on One on One or the Parkers or maybe it was Brandy. The girl nearly got arrested because someone claimed she stole something from the store. When in fact it was the white girl who left at the same time as she. The fact is most of the time. People will keep their eyes on Black people and those who hang around any "thuggish" looking people. This has happened to me. And I related to it because I am black. And 9/10 if you go to the "white" side of town and you arn't dress approriately then um be ready to be followed everywehre you go and rushed out of every store. If they had made Brandy a "white" girl it wouldn't of had the same effect because that rarely happens or people think it does.
