On a factorial, intelligent approach to your theory, I would have to say that it is wack.
So, the SNES had even lower specs then that, no 3-D power really at all, but hey, people still deam it the best system ever. The success of the PSX gave Sony a reputation, so people bought the PS2 fast, and alot of people did. Thus, creating a large user base, THUS creating more games for the system, and alot of very good games at that.
