If you're opponent is doing a "beam" special from all the way on the other side of the screen, Spiral is useless. Now if you're opponent is doing a "beam" special right infront of you, or in the middle of the screen Spirals pretty handy.

Assuming, b/c of lag, that your helper even comes out when you call it out.
