Hold down, and release with up (to high jump, doing it this way, gives you time to do half of the combination while you're in the air..allowing you to do a quicker high jump soon as you hit the ground..). There's also a site with lots of tutorials, and strategies. It's called maximumspider. You might be able to overcome those cheap ryu users when you practice those strategies.
