Well.. that's a bit wrong. A guard thrust only pushes the opponent away from you, so that they won't be so close to you anymore. During the time of any attack, pushing them back can help lessen the damage taken as well, especially for attacks that do more than one hit. However, this doesn't make them change in recovery time, or change the status of their attack. Nothing especially good can happen with it.

In fact, it's dangerous to use itself. If you're caught in the air and use it, and there's a long term attack (like a Shinkuu Hadouken, or Kikoshou)you'll end up taking damage after the thrust is ended. Also, you end up needing a second after the thrust to recover; and in this game, that's all people really need. Just some negatives to consider.
