Thanks for the input, everyone! The main reason I came up with this idea was if players were allowed to watch another player's match, if we had a permanent chat window off to the side, bottom, or wherever, we wouldn't need to worry about them interrupting gameplay. Unless, of course, someone comes up with a way to allow non-intrusive chat without having a chat window up...
Of course, another easy solution is to include real-time voice recognition into the game, where players could speak into a mic or headset, and the player's speech would be played in the game. However, this is unlikely, since including something like this would probably hoard money, memory, bandwidth, etc., so the chances of this are pretty low, I'd say...
And yes, some players actually type crap in between matches to throw you off. Sometimes it'll be a taunt, or it may be a faked plea for help. Granted, the majority of players who type between matches would never do that, but a select few actually try it...and it only makes me beat them even harder...
