Is it a good idea to turn games into movies? - Opinions?

its never depending on the game my friend... always about the script itself !

WINGS COMMANDER is an old game that showed the way to 3D SPACE SHOOTING game !
it was awsome.
but the movie sucked so hard...
it wasn't the game who was bad, it was the movie and the game was awsomely made and was very very played... but the author that made the script just didn't took the game in consideration and simply made his own story based on the GENERAL UNIVERSE in which the heroes were going in... that plus the fact that he he did a completely new story made the movie way too different then the games, so it became a big pile of #### !

same happens to other movies as well !
RESIDENT EVIL for an example had the very same problem !
between redoing the story of the games, they decided to make a completely new story... not a bad idea, but they took the main city and used everything that was GAME REALTED... what happens to a movie like that... it becomes a little off place ! it cannot be put in the story line of the games.

it was basically not a RESIDENT EVIL, but more of another ZOMBIE movie like many others !

i must admit tho, aside of the story who was poopting hard... the movie was greatly made !
