VF: when you said "name something good religion has done" even though iam asking aboutt he majority, religion did change people individually. Some for better or for worse, i think in every relgion there is self descipline or teaches it. For example Buddhism/Hinduism - Fasting Christianity - Lent
Islam - Also Fasting, and No Drinking Judaism - No Milk w Meat.. even though this may seem weird to others... personally it gives that individual some kind of self discipline.


There is a very intersting quote i remembered, it goes,

There are two people in this world, A person with religion but no mind, and a person with mind but no religion.

Do you guys think we need both to balance our lives out.

All of those examples are what they DON'T do.

As in they don't eat from time to time.

I'm saying what has religion does as a whole that has benefited the world, that out wheighs the bad.

Because all that bad poop that religion has done doesn't balance out a few people not eating.

again and again, i should say that religion topics have tended to always turned to flame for too many people takes thigns too seriously around here... so why not try to keep it down a bit ?

for its simple... he never made anything to make me believe in a greater being... thus why would i believe in him ?
at the worst when i'll die if he does exists i will tell him i'm sorry for not believing and ask for his forgivness and for what everythings says in all religion... he will simply forgive me and accept me anyway.

for my part religion was made by humans for they needed to believe in something. just like we do today. believes is what makes us go forward in life. without em we would run in circle for the rest of our lives ! but what can we truly say about a world where humans have created everything.

i mean its us human who said 2+2=4 its no convention... for me it can also be 22 but everyone tells me i am crazy everytimes i say that to them. thus it prooves people minds are stuck and widely not openned like they were supposed to. that is due to the fact that they need to think they knows everything and they need it to be rational and understandable. for if they can't understand it, then they simply start acting crazy and mad !

well in theory religion only exists to create fear and disipline of a higher power, and thus creating sanity by limiting the mind.

religion creates values and the entire law system was created from religion.

however many people take religion too far and oppress and kill other groups. it's just like the 13 apostle said in dogma, it's better to have a good idea, than to have a belief. meaning religion shouldn't be taken seriously, becuase it then hurts more than it helps. but without it where would we be? humanity completely revolves around religion, every war came from religion, every government came from religion. we all came from religion.

believe in a higher being because without one...the world doesn't really make sense...well, at least to me it doesn't. My mom is a Roman Catholic and my dad is an atheist. So I've been pretty confused throughout life...but let me tell you something.

Religion has it's flaws but it also has the good things about it. It teaches people discipline like Abdoun earlier had said and gives hope as asshole said. Religion at least Roman Catholicism does not say kill all the Muslims and anyone who is different. Individuals say things like that and people begin to get confused as to what is real and what is not...and to make what they're doing seem good they say I'm doing this for my religion when we know most religions don't say go kill anything that is different from you. They say this so they feel better about what they are doing. Let's not get religion confused with the individual that preaches it.

Religion has done a lot of things that is good. Like I said earlier in this post it gives people discipline. It teaches you to give back to the community. Many people donated to the tsunami disaster because of church. My mom's church gave the money that they were going to use for the church to the tsunami disaster. Any many people sustain from doing some bad things because of what their religion teaches them. Some is better then none.

How doesn't it make sense? Religion doesn't hold the world together, if anything it's keeping the world appart.

If anything, with religion the world makes even LESS sense.

Let me tell you a little something about most every religion. It's not based on hope as I want it to believe, it's based on fear, as most christians are trying me to believe.

It's not "hopefully i'll get into heaven for being good," it's "I better be good or else i'll go to hell."

The entire concept of heaven and hell is based on FEAR.

What I meant VF was the big bang theory and how the earth came to be...according to the big bang theory there was a big empty space then all of a sudden there was a planet and it blew up and formed all the planets...uh where did this "planet" come from....

Fear keeps us from doing things we shouldn't do. And keeps us doing the things we should. Whoever said fear was a bad thing. Fear is only bad when it keeps you doing something you should. Fear of going to hell makes people donate. Hope for having something good happen to them makes them want to help someone...tsunami aid.... This whole world is based on fear not only religion. Some people don't speed for fear of an accident or ticket.

VF, calling Karma stupid for thinking 2+2 = 22 was truly uncalled for. When he sees it he takes the two numbers and puts them besides each other. Like 1+3 = 13. It really how you look at it...he has a different view on something...so quit telling him...and others...to shut up.

Although Catholics took a pretty long to accept that the earth revolves around the sun they did. So that comment is faulty.
