Allrighty, seems fair enough..
Just PM Me whenever ou CAN fight, and we'll do this.
Btw, I 'ONLY' choose Ryu, and no i'm not a ViP, so don't worry about the new sPecial move...(Shungokusatsu)

Oh and yeah ofcourse ill choose Ryu, that's the ONLY reason I wanna fight, just to see how good you are!

You've never heard that saying before?

pip- i will play u best out of 3 games. See if u can back up all your ####.

Neo_genic 03-26-2003 06:19 PM

Anyone with any skill could see your strats are sh|t as!
Never never share your strats with anybody, cause if there good(and there not) they'll use em' and if there not you'l get flamed to a crisp! :angryfire:

And light punch doesn't increase your level bar quicker, cause its weaker you have to use it more to increase you level bar.

by the by, has anyone noticed that when using cyclopes heavy puch, while his blast is flying through the air you can keep pressing hp and the level bar goes up with out doing anything!

.......

Sharing strats with people is what makes the game better, it makes it more competitive, that's what makes it fun...

By the way fear, good job with the Ryu strats... I'm too lazy nowadays to put up any strats, unless I'm bored..

Neo_genic 03-26-2003 06:32 PM

DOnt ya think the game would be booring if every one used the same strats or knew how to beat your?

I think not...

03-26-2003 06:48 PM

Neo_genic: I suppose it doesn't as a shock to you that every decent Ryu user does just that strategy vs. other Ryu players. If your strategy isn't based upon those same fundamentals of running, jumping, super jumping, and building up your super metter like crazy, then you won't survive long in a game filled with lag.

Just try finding an unorthodox Ryu fighter that can put up a good fight without doing that... there's none. In the end, most everyone maxes out their abilities in this game, and at that point they're so familiar with the keys victories are decided by lag (host), helpers, and natural speed. Since everyone can achieve a speed consistent with his move recovery rate and near-instant blocking, predicting lag becomes the only other thing that can give you the edge.

Bottome line: Everyone who's worth a dam uses that strategy with Ryu, it's practically common knowledge. There's just different levels of degree of speed, lag, and lag prediction (and to some degree, your helper) which are the deciding factors of who win.

Neo_genic 03-26-2003 06:50 PM

So in the end skill has nothing to do with it?

03-26-2003 06:54 PM

In the end, skill is what leads everyone to fight that way.

Neo_genic 03-26-2003 06:55 PM

Some how a relization of that kinda takes the fun out of it.
I guess theres allways other characters and combos to master...

VIRUS 03-27-2003 09:45 AM

[quote:post_uid0="fear_tetsuo"]Virus-why did i leave? Because I accomplished what i wanted, I won a tourney and was the best(no matter what anyone says I was the best for a short amount of time). And the fact that all the good people were gone and it was clear that they werent coming back at all, and with the insertion of tag mode and all the lag and cheap characters(cyc, spidey) that came with it made me leave. I would come back if there were alot of actual good people.[/quote]
Fear I mean no disrespect....but what you and many others did was the equivalent of taking your BALL and going home with it. Honestly I also believe you were the best for a couple of months....but you were not unbeatable and lag play's a part in ALL games.

A whole big crew of "greats" left after tag....I mean what happend? you guys could'nt adjust?....or ois it more like what i REALLY THINK the problem is.

I see it this way...outside of here (in the game of your choice) you seem to be a championship player. Some of us are the same....if I were to take over half of the current community and face them on an arcade machine they would get sent home crying.....but thats not the situation. I see it like this....the whole crew that left...you guys dont like to lose. I mean god forbid you guys lose a game here and there so when tag was released and you found out that you had to adjust...you just left. Gee thanx for leaving guys...I mean I really enjoy playing all the ##### nowadays...yeah I really appreciate it.

I also do not believe that you accomplished everything fear as a matter of fact I highly doubt it. Im not sure if you heard about this little thing coming up but it's the FIRST official tournament...you know as in first OFFICIAL. Im sure you can follow this to the end so my point is made.

One more thing how could you say that there are'nt alot of good players around? compared to the ol' days...sure youre right. If you play at all nowadays you would know that once in a while a good player comes along who knows how to handle themsleves....since tag there have been alot of them. Do not keep that usual blind eye some have around here if you want comp. you'll find it.

I mean dont get me wrong I do not want to discredit you at all you were one of the best....my goal is to get under your skin enough for you to come back...hehehe!. This goes out to all you so called "vets" who dont play anymore.....Do you really want to let the title of first OFFICIAL T.O.C champ to fall into ##### hands!?...get the rust off the key board and grab the ball from your closet's and represent for what this place used to be...instead of just thinking about the good ol' days.

Ya Heard!:

nferno
tark
shinjuko
fear
SSX
Skate
hotsauce
itso
and the rest of ya!

I 2nd VIRUS plea for you so called "retired old geezers" to come out of retirement. VIRUS, I, and the few other vets that still play may not be able to make sure TOC doesn't land in the hands of some n-o-o-b by ourselves.

03-27-2003 07:14 PM

Virus: I could have sworn this would be your position, but oh well...

There's a actually MORE "great" players now that the game has expanded.

...friggin tons more I havn't even fought yet. But I think there's 2 reasons "old vets" don't really veiw these guys as good:

1. The "old farts" got better, so their perception of what was "great" changed. People who used to seem pretty good turned out sucking once they learned to block, others who gave good challenges turned into crappy competition after months of experience. So the "greats" of today don't seem to meassure up to who used to beat them... before they became "great."

2. Lag changed. It's harder to predict it after 4evr, so fighting someone now when if they had been fought using the SAME technique/characters a year ago would have seemed pretty even-laged, now would seem too biased to the other guy. Not keeping up with the game throughs off your sense of what your opponent is recieving.

And because of that (a combination of the 2), it seems like the people who own the game now wouldn't challenge "back when there wasn't as much lag," or better yet, "back when I was still learning to fight and could predict lag better."

Try taking a year off the game some time... see if it doesn't seem like everyone who's rumored to be great when you come back is just beating you because you can't host anymore.

Just think back to the first guy who really beat the hell out of you. Did that not leave an impression that they were great in your eyes? And now think back to the first time you destroyed someone who seemed to fight the exact same way because you'd gotten better. I'm willing to bet you didn't get the same impression of greatness. This is exactly what I think happened/is happening to people who achieve greatness and then quit for extended periods of time.

BTW, I am starting to play in the WT's on a regular basis

Is that just a kind way of saying you agree with me....hehehe.

There are other greats around here I mean has anyone played CaSe, Tupac, and blaze?.

I remember there was a point in time where CaSe was over 350 wins and 0 losses.....yeah 0 losses  . I said to my self "It can't be"...then I played him and let me tell you one thing...I have been here a while and when case is on his game there a very few that can stop him.

The same goes for some others the comp is still around and the list of good to great players grows all the time but, like KKS said there are not enough of us at this point to make SURE a deserving individual wins the first major tournament.
