Fats and oils are tri-esters of glycerol, propan-1,2,3-triol, with carboxylic acids. These are sometimes called fatty acids owing to their presence in fats. . The constituent compounds include: tetradecanoic acid CH3(CH2)12COOH; hexadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2)14COOH; octadeca-9,12-dienoic acid (linoleic acid), :biggrin:

So now that you understand the molecular structure of fats let's move to margarine..
Margarine is created by either..
oils and fats, up to 10% of which can be milk fat;
an aqueous phase, often skimmed milk;
salt and flavouring;
vitamins

well... for all i know, you can't say its the same as plastic, cause in chemestry, one molecule is like very different then the others !

example:
H2O = water or HALLOWEEN 20 (lol)
but... H2 is far from being water

see, one molecule out and you get something totally different.
other example:
CO2 = what coming out of our cars
O2 = oxygen which is what we need to survive !

two very different things, but still only one molecule separates them.
so basically you can't say that MARGARINE is almost like the PLASTIC that hold the margarine itself !

oh BTW... CO2 is also what we breath out of our body !
yeah, we breath out the same thing as our cars !

O2 when you breath in, but when you breath out its now CO2 !

see, anyway... let's get back on topic, yeah butter is way better then margarine... but in our world, who can say which things are really real ? i mean, alost everything in life now are made by chemical reactions, so how can you know that what you eat is real and not just another CHEMESTRY test by some super markets ?

so i wouldn't wonder about those things... its not like its gonna change my way of life anyway !

cars put out carbon monoxide and Co2 is carbon dioxide...I swear to god karma...

and really that not far from being water because manily all hydrogen is; is water...

Well what can I tell ya...
As he rightly put it We breathe out CO2 .. Carbon (IV) Oxide or Carbon dioxide while the Oxide which comes out of our cars is Carbon Monoxide or CO or Carbon(II)oxide...
which of cause is more poisonous than CO2.. cause if taken in, it reacts with the haemoglobin in our red blood cells forming Carboxylhaemoglobin which is more dense and fails to transport the Oxygen round the body..

Back to the topic! For a fact.. yes 1 molecule can make a lotta difference when it comes to the structure and properties of a similar molecule.. eg NO2 and CO2.. which are completely different (For a fact NO2 is brown and CO2 is colorless)
But in this case, we're talking of what is known as hydrogenation which in any case is the addition of Hydrogen to a molecule..
Due to the vast amount of Hydrogen present in one chain of Fat (margarine) an addition doesn't change it's chemical equation too much.. and I think that's were they're both alike..
Basically just a step ahead of the fats and oils, we see plastic.
click here you'll read about polymers and stuff like that.. They show you how unsaturated organic compounds loose their double bonds and form large molecules (also known as macromolecules) which are in turn saturated.. Seeing those large chains of organic compound, adding one molecule of Hydrogen doesn't make much difference... unlike when it's Oxygen and Water..
So I guess that explains it to a new level! :biggrin:

for you who dont know No2 is nitrogen dioxide and as was said
Co2 is carbon dioxide-used in fire extinguishers very very cold stuff when in liquid form

blanka if im not mistaken it doesnt turn into gas until it hits O right? Or is it just the fact that its not compressed anymore?


blanka you must explain the reason why carbon monoxide is so dangerous I dont think they understood it...
and just in case he doesnt tell you it bassicly will drain you of all strength then you will pass out and die from lack of (oxygen=O)
