View Full Version : Where to begin? - Initial thoughts on sfo

My first reaction to SFO was "ugh." First of all, I'm a little confused by the usage of the MvC1 engine when the game is called Street Fighter Online. Purely cosmetic though, so I gave the game a shot.

:D

I haven't tried versus because... well, the Story Mode games were so laggy and glitchy, I didn't think PvP would be very interesting. There's a lot of things I need to bone up on before I make official complaints (I'm sure they've all been addressed anyway), but I don't think people should be able to stand inside of Sentinel.

???

Anyway, I have a lot of suggestions, and being new here (first post! whee!) I don't know what's up for consideration or what has been suggested before. All I've been able to pick up is that there's plans for additional characters. I hope marve| doesn't shut this project down for using their characters... but I digress.

Suggestions:
- Try different interfaces. The "just like the arcade" motif is cute, but I'm sure that there's lots of interfaces that would better serve this game.

- If the character selection gets pretty big, like MvC2 range, it would be helpful to have a "favorite list." Everybody has a few favorite characters that they stick to, so maybe off to the side you could make a panel where they can customize their own mini character select.

- Make an "arcade perfect" version. This will help attract competitive players and strengthen the community. The extra characters and moves are great, but still experimental. Some people may claim that you've "ruined" the game. Having two different modes, new and original, will broaden the user base.

well to have a favorite list then everyone will need a p2p thing. i dont know what that is but i guess its to save. :) and more characters will i guess mean, more lag. im sure 56k connection people do not want that. and welcome to the sfo community, if you wish, i shall be your guide.

Aw, thanks. :D I'll check around though before I ask any dumb questions.

I really have no clue how the game has been coded thus far, so I'm unsure of how the features I suggest would be implemented. The favorite list seems like it could just be on the user's hard drive. The server doesn't need to know what's on the favorite list. It just needs to know which character you've picked.

EDIT

Hey, um, is there an official FAQ somewhere? Or at least general info on how the game is supposed to play? some changes that seem deliberate to me are invincible helpers, being able to tag at any time, and no recovery time on tag-ins. Were these intentional?
