Whenever I start my home computer (oh, this has NOTHING to do with XMVSF, by the way...) I get an error that my crashguard assistant picks up...

OleMainThreadWndName has caused a crash trying to access index.dat in my cookie folder, and in my iexplore/history/ folder.

Yeah, I know, more details are needed... bu I left the #### things at home (not my day...)
ALSO

Nestcape, iexplore, and opera (all latest versions) don't work - thye crash upon trying to access the internet. That is, Opera still gives me the "Choose your screen" message... then on trying to access its home page, crashes. I installed opera after ie and nestscape went down, but I think something doesn't like me accessing the cable modem.

Oh, the error message for ie was that it tried to access some dll file - MS4d.dll, or something bloody close... I can't remember the netscape/opera errors.

Anyway, ANY help would be greatly appreciated... I know this isn't the place to post, but I really don't know where to go for errors like this... Google was no bloody help at all.

And yeah, tomorrow (on coming to uni again) I'll post all the details here!

Ciao!

there is that word called FORMAT !
if deinstalling IE, Netscape and opera you'll have to reinstall windows cause an error like that is cause by the kernel of something, it could be windows or one of the program you mentionned !

Hey SSJ! We must have posted at about the same time! And yup, you were right about the re-installing of windows! (This being the edited section of my post...) FORMAT is a #### scary word when you have various assignments on your computer tho! Ok, here is the unedited stuff now...:

Ahhh, I came home (after uni - I sent all the above from uni) and just re-installed Windows. Then I re-installed my cable drivers.

It was all good.

The problem, I suspect, was a certain ad-aware product, or a certain registry editor I downloaded from donwloads.com - seems one of them over-zealously deleted my cable dll files... don't know why, but there you are...
But thanks anyway!

NEXT: Hey, I have the much-revered (by me, anyway) TDS-3 Anti Trojan Horse program running. On a full scan, it found out that there was a *very* suspicious (at least, by its standards) file called msn50.exe

This being located in my program files/online services/MSN50 directory. I'm sort of hesitant to delete ANYTHING with the msn name attached... but I'm too scared to open it!

So i renamed it msn50.ttt for some reason, and moved it. Any ideas if this msn50 file is evil?

Oh! By the way, if any of you have cable, are running windows, and ever get an error popup about once a second babbling about some file called shallapi.exe - well, that's a trojan. Get the afore-mentioned tds-3 anti torjan program, and it will zap it. Then delete all references to it in your msconifg - startup section. (msconifg founr by running msconfig in, ahh, run).

Again, I know, this has about all there is to do with streetfighter as, say, Sonic the hedgehog, but, uhmmm, I'm... a... uh, cronic spammer? Yeah! That's it, a cronic spammer!

Anyways, cheers tmyapp, and ciao the rest of ya!

And thanks for the post too, SSJ! (Yes, this is also an edited section)
