The government provides the backbone infastructure of any nation. From the military to a highway being built. The government in power also has control over how the criminal justice system in the country works.

Think about it like this lets say you have a country and the leader has a militeristic approach.

Based on the idea that military might makes right. So right of the bat you'd have a country with a powerhouse for a military. The societie could also change to values that agree/encourage more military might. By societies values i understand and agree with the fact that not everyone will agree with what this leader is doing, what i mean is that concensus or the majority will be with this leader. The point im trying to make is that the government provides us with physical necessities and protection from people taking advantage of the fact that these physical things are necessities, like a monopoly in a market place. Perhaps even more important is the fact that the government can potentially shape the concensus' opinions to agree with their own giving them the ability to become more militeristic in this case.

For example theres the universal declaration of human rights.(Has to with rights of liberty, life, security of the person, to be free of toture and so on.) In canada if the governent tries to pass any legislation that infringes on any of the human rights the legislation is immediately tossed away by the courts, but thats because parliment has given the courts the power to do this. but when Sadaam was in power he must of forgot to read the universal declaration, the courts were not given the same power, so he could do what ever he wanted.

This above paragraph is full of flaws based on assumptions though, i was only trying to show how a government has the chance to shape the nation.


The government(through a democratic system at least) represent what the concensus value. The laws and services that the government provides are then also reflected by the people. You wouldn't vote for someone whos policies you didnt agree with.

I hope some of this made sense... i prolly goofed it up some where lol.

If the government simply says no because of stereotypes or unproven fears then how can anyone say it is fair.



My answer would have to be that as long as both parties agree to the terms there is no reason to not allow anyone into the country(other than an over population issue, which isn;t an issue in america or canada), part of agreeing to the terms would have to be some kind of process to becoming a citizen. I don't know how long it takes to get a green card or become an american citizen.

I also know about a refugee status that people can get but the system is messed up when it comes to refugee status at least in canada. I remember reading about this article a lady from africa came to canada with her kids hoping to be allowed refugee status, she was denied, she made an appeal but im not to sure what happened, though chances are she was sent back. From waht i recall she was fleeing her country because she claimed she was being raped/harrased/totured by soldiers, i also think a soldier murdered her husband, she also claimed that if she returned to her country she would probably be shuned, or stoned.

My parents for example aren't considered to be canadian citizens, they have this card i can't remember what its called but the card must be renewed around every fifth year or so, they aren't illegal so they get some rights but they can't vote in any elections whether it is federal, provincial or municpal. I find it kinda of funny though cause they been here since they were 20 and there like 50 now. They spent most of their life here.

people should not immigrate illegally......just for overall security reasons

if they really need to get into america for whatever reason, they should take the time to do it properly


if an illegal immigrant is caught or discovered, he should be pointed in the way so that he can legally become a citizen.
