Well im using xp so i don't see a router or firewall icon on my task bar

umm what makes you think you have an icon if you have a router...if you have a software firewall than it will show a lock icon with your connection in the network area but not on the desktop or system tray

well got to start on ur xp and then click on search and type in firewall/router or go to start and click control panal and click add/remove program and see if youcan remove it from ur computer.
