Malcolm X took up reading, and got into islam while he was in prison. He turned his life around, thanks to the power of his religion and his will to change the world.

He said prison is the best place to change other than a college.

Some Muslim he was...he promoted violence...the Quran does not encourage that. He must of not read enough.

@ elena...i read the whole Quran..very strong and complleing book and never...ever..promotes violence or ANY harm to AHYTHING.. i dont think Malcom X promoted violence...it was actually the other way around...he was the one that was getting shot and killed by his own old friends

When people are burning down your house, shooting your brothers, threatening your life, and threatening the life at your family, there is no other option.

It wasn't "equality, please", it was "equality at any means neccessary".

Plus, he was working with both whites, blacks and peaceful civil rights leader in his later life.
