i knew a kid who couldn't read it or anything cuz his parents thought the book was all about witchcraft...

also on a different note, i remember in my town we have a small jewish congregation and some lady came in on some meeting or something and said she was jewish, then she went on and on about jesus and other crap and then she went as far to say that harry potter is ruining childrens minds with witchcraft, and at that point everyone cracked up...
i just happened to walk in on it cuz i'm a counseler at the summer camp and i was looking for a ride home and my mom was in the meeting.

The Christian and Catholic religions (among many others) have placed magic, mysticalities, and mystical beings as created by the "devil", unless created by god. Harry Potter is all of those things, with a blonde rival to boot. Because of that, some hardcore christians/catholics/whatever boycott Harry Potter. Many chrisitians just don't let their families see it, because it is evil.The rest just see it, whether it conflicts with their beliefs or not, because they want entertainment and don't really care much. You should have seen or heard about the protests they used to have a while ago about Harry Potter.

Umm I wasnt too thrilled when I heard Harry Potter was comming to the "big screen" in the first place. Though the movies are doing well and hey atleast it gets kids READING MORE. Though it is about witches and goons still reading is the only real reason the whole Harry Potter craz started. If I was a parent and my kids were hooked on ANY kind of book that would be superb

I saw the movie today as a field trip,the new one prisoner of azkaban.I liked it better than the other two.
