normally the people who listen to hard rock really listen to it because its the sort of music for people who have a lot of anger within them or stress like people tease/bully them in school thats why grunja's and gothics arent very popular in this country they're probably 3 in my whole school of 2000 students..think of all the $#### they take everyday im suprised one of them hasnt comitted suicide to tell u the truth...kids will we ever grow up?

[quoteost_uid0="Selvin"]Not nessacarily (sp). Rock's popular days were around Nirvana and the Grunge moment. I didn't see chicks dancing up and down in grunge videos and grunge was the thing at the time.[/quote]
Im assuming you aren't counting the "cheerleaders" in Smells Like Teen Spirit.
I think Tupac was talking about the "hair bands" of the 80's.
Anyway,
I like rock better.

I play two instruments, and I just happen to think that rock is a better way of expressing myself. When I'm mad I listen to either metal or some sort of calming rock. When I'm happy I listen to punk, ska, or any good rock song with strong riffs. I like the older stuff too. I'm into all types of music, but what just irks me is some types of rap. Don't get me wrong, some rap is okay, but I cannot stand hearing about "ho's" and "dropping money on the bling" or what not. (skate919 is not very "up on it, yo")

Now, some rap is fine, because it expresses inner feelings, but the mainstream stuff is just crap-ola.

Selvin, you are doing a good job keeping this topic in line. Keep it up.

*P.S.*
It seems to me that the rock people back up their opinions more than the rap (excluding tupac and a couple others), I'd like to hear why the people who like rap more choose to.

You realize that goth is a type of rock and there are very few gothic bands and people who support goth. I'd have to say that less than 1% of the rock community is gothic.

I also like rock because there aren't as many one-hit-wonders in rock as there are in rap. In rap there seems to be people that come and go, and with the exception of a few, most of them seem to fade away after one or two singles.

I also dislike the fact that just because rappers might be successful, they think they can act, too. dubya tee eff is it with rappers in ########ty movies these days? Ja Rule? DMX? Eminem? None of them can act their ways out of a paper bag.

Also, there appears to be a lot more run-ins with the law with rappers than rockers. Rockers get in trouble for a little bit of drugs (we never hear about rockers getting busted for drugs nowadays) and trashing hotel rooms. Yet it seems like nowadays every rapper there is is getting busted for something. Juvenile (i think) a few weeks ago for possession of cocaine and marijuana. Puffy getting busted for some shootings. R. Kelly for fcuking a 14-year-old, possessing child porn, and possessing "indecent photos." Constant lawsuits and hearings about rappers beating women and shooting people and such. You NEVER hear about ######## like that from rockers. And when was the last time there was a west-coast/east-coast rivalry in rock music? Hell, when was the last time two rockers were killed by supporters of the other's band?

Also, playing instruments takes a WHOLE LOT more talant than hitting the "Demo" key on a keyboard and recording it, or hitting a drum four or five times and repeating it throughout the song.

Also, for some reason, rap is constantly redefining language in the US. What is "word up?" They can't say "what's up?" What is "peace out?" They can't say "later?" What is "phat yo?" They can't say "That's cool?" What is "bling bling?" They can't say "money?" What is "foshizzle my nizzle?" Why does Snoop Dogg talk like a fcuking moron with more "slang" than english? Why can't they use normal english instead of fcuking ebonics? I just don't understand.

lol and u will never know. It's a cool thing for them to make somewhat slang new language, the old normal language is getting boring. And dont hate on them casue they wont use normal terms. Slang is a catchy thing in the rap section new words no sayings its like a fad. Whats wrong with Ebonics got a prob if u dont understand it then dont worry about it. $hit go to the projects and buy a hooked on Ebonics kit. ???
