Shotokhan people - Who should be the next shotokhan?

Tarkan, you need to lose this obsession with "tiers." There is no way that you could possibly prove this theory, ever. Even if you were to take statistics from tournaments on who the finalists use, that proves nothing. Some of the best players don't even participate in tournaments, or even go to the arcades, for that matter. In fact, some of the best players probably sit around at home and practice insane combos on their Dreamcast all day and all night. But you'd never know it, would you? For all you know, they might very well be able to beat Magneto or Sentinal with ease, with one of the characters you consider to be "low tier."

If they think they were the best players around, they'd prove that wouldn't they... even if there was no arcade in their area, or they had no computers to play ROMS, they could just bring their consoles to other peoples houses. As for now, the characters that I stated are top tier.

What I find ironic is, most of the characters that you consider to be "high tier," are the ones that most of us regard as cheap (e.g. Storm, Cable).

They aren't cheap

Giving "cheap" an honorable sounding name like "high tier" doesn't change what it is. And if you were truly as good of a player as you try to portray yourself, then you wouldn't need only "high tier" characters in your team, would you? A truly skilled fighter should be able to use everyone equally well. I'm with Karma 100%.

*sigh* I do use low tier characters, but only for fun uses, if you were in the national tournament finals in MvC2(particularly evolution 2002), and you were to win 10,000 dollars, wouldn't you use top tier characters?

And besides I use characters that aren't top tier in a real fight, like 2nd tier characters like CapCom, Psylocke, Cammy, War Machine, etc... I also use 3rd tier characters like Ken, and Jin.

I'll explain why top tiers arent cheap:

Magneto: Just play keep away with him/run away from him, and don't get trapped in his rush down, that's the only reason why Magneto is probably the best in the game.

Sentinel: he's a big character so you can just get near him, and make sure he isn't on top of you

Storm: She'll always run away, and try to get you in an infinite, but she lacks defense, she always goes up in the air playing keep away, and traps with you, just get in the air before she does, and don't make a wrong move

Cable: he relies on AHVB so much. So just don't make any wrong moves. Cable does great chip damage, and has an easy guard brake(up, and HP). He always tries to play mind games with you, and always plays keep away, just get near him all the time, and always stay near him.

Spiral: She might seem cheap to everyone, but she can be stopped. Spiral usually teams up with Sent for the Spiral Sent trap which has incredible chip damage. so always play keep away, and watch out for her teleportation.

Dr Doom: He has the best assist in the game, but Dr Doom isn't much of a threat even though he has great supers, and easily gets the super meter up. Fight him like you do other 2nd tier characters

Strider: Strider is a threat just like spiral, he'll use Dr Doom as his partner for the Strider/Doom trap which does the best chip damage. He'll use Oroubus, and then come to you, if you go back, he'll teleport behind you like spiral. play keep away with strider since he doesn't have keep away attacks. He'll always play mind games with you(with his bird, and Doom), so always stay above him.

Black Heart: just fight Black Heart like you do 2nd tier characters, he isn't much of a threat as he used to be

Iron Man: Just fight him like you do War Machine, and watch out for his infinites.

it isn't because you saw that moview where the guy was in a tourney and fought with magneto that he has to be third tier ! anyone of us can go in a tournament and use a FAKE char like DAN HIBIKI and win that same tournament !

in a tourney you use the char that you know the most not the char that you don't play at all !

example:
you (TarkanX) and I (SSJKarma) go and fight in a tournaments (MvsC2)... we fought and we both are in final (we beated about 25 opponent each before our fight) then i decide to choose storm and you choose magneto then i get beated for what reason ? i am not that good with her, so i choose DAN HIBIKI (your lowest tier char) i whoop your ass 9/10 times (the first being me with storm)...

now i ask you, who dominated who in this ?

you see that's exactly my point, THERE IS NO TIERS in FIGHTING games, caused it all depend on the player, not the chars !

*sigh* it just isn't watching tournament movies, and going to the arcade seeing people use magneto or cable, it's how much priority a character has. Dan has no special priority, Magneto does, Cables does, Spiral does, Storm does, etc.... Roll doesn't have special priority

It's like CvS2, Sagat is top tier, and he has a lot of priority because of his crouching fierce, just like Blanka, and Vega(clawed spaniard).

In a tourney, if you play to win, you use the character that has the best chance of winning.

It could happen, but I'm pretty good with Mag, but it could happen(if you were the best Dan player, and I didn't know much about Mag, or I knew a little bit of what Mag has in store against other characters)

I keep saying this and I'll say it again.

Let's say the best Guile user vs the best Zangief user faced eachother in SF2: TWW, who would win? Guile would win. you know why? Zangief can't do anything about it. Guile does a sonic boom, Zangief jumps, then Guile does a flash kick, Zangief gets knocked down. It'll keep happening like that. Zangief can't beat Guile if Guile keeps doing that, since the sonic boom has good length as a projectile, and the flash kick has great air priority. That's how tiers are used. Not by how much one person has dominance over another, but how much priority the have.


There's no point in going on like this, your not going to listen, let's just end it.....


Edit: I frgot how Zangief had the spnning lariat which he could dodge fireballs, but even if he did have it, Guile would just trip Zangief.

Summary for confused individuals: this has nothing to do with the topic

Neither shoto should be next b/c they get boring to play with (for me at least). And just for arguments sake, how come top-tier characters are always the most used in the arcades? It's not cause they're the best, it's b/c you can keep away easily or combo easily or use awesome supers. It doesn't predict who will win a match, the tier system, only who chose a character who has some easy way to avoid, combo, etc.
