a small answer would be to make you enjoy a game by having a goal other then the top score !
the true answer is this one... people wanted to have a goal other the ranking system so having them unlock characters in an old style of play was the answer to it... but then again there was those who wanted the characters to be learned by others because ####s were everywhere ! so this unlocking system was the answer to mainly all these problems... but in all honesty, i think its stupid, its hard learning to play with all characters and when you think you know all you notivce how not good you are with one of those characters ! so its what i think and i think this should be going out ! i think the unlocking system is just stupid and do not serves a real purpose !
