All that about helpers... pointless. Helpers shouldn't decide the outcome a match, heck helpers shouldn't even be in the game.
This is ---> X-Men vs. Street Fighter if i'm not mistaken, not "Let's take the best things out of each game in the VS's series and still call it XMVSSF" For the 2nd Player bug try going into practice before a match.
