Fullmetal Alchemist, a new show that airs on Adult Swim, I thought It'd be good to show a full overview of the story line for those who missed to first episode.
The story is about to brothers, Edward Elric, and Alphonse Elric, both brothers were Alchemists. Alchemy is the structure of matter, and they use Transmutation Circles to transform a certain abject of matter into somethimg else. but to obtain, something of equal value must be taken. So both of the brothers lived happy lives, until their mother suddenly passed away. but they found a way, to revive their mother using the power of Alchemy. On one fateful night, they gathered their mother's remainings, and put them to the center of the Transmutation Circle. Then the Alchemy had begun. but something went wrong. They forgot the general laws of Alchemy, and they paid a terrible price. The Alchemy, had caused Edward to lose his right arm and left leg, and Alphonse was almost completely destroyed. but as Edward looked up to see if his mother was alive, he was horrified. His mother's body parts were completely melted and deformed. And that was when he always remembered, that Alchemy was to never be used on human souls. but they grew up, Edward and Alphonse were still alive; Edward with a metal arm and leg, and Alphonse's soul to be bound in a mechanical suit of armor. They set on a journey, to find an item called "The Philosipher's Stone", in order to use it to restore their true forms. And that is the story of Fullmetal Alchemist.
