The biggest point I am trying to make is that there will be no more *big tournaments* anymore.

This statement seems more like a judgement and how do you go about this conclusion? The reason why there aren't any big and successful tournaments is because the lack of organization, commitment and moderator/Administrator help.

This is my suggestion. If 2 people who were to fight each other did not bother to even post here. advance the person with the best rank to the next round. Then try and get him to play the second round.

This is hard to do, and what do you mean by "best rank"? I'm assuming you mean the top scores and if you do, those top scores aren't as "clean" as 3 years ago. When Zing organized his tournament (TOC1), he had the wolver
