To whom it may concern,

Now I'm well aware of the fact that not everybody in the forum is really interested in music... not songs like rap songs and the genre of music for the new age.. but good ol' sheet music.

Well, for those who are, I've got something interesting for ya. On the other hand, if you're well into anime and you know of the anime called the Vision of escaflowne, then I've got something for ya. Yoko Kanno composed a song for that anime.. called Shadow of doubt. It involves a constant cello with the fast tempo of the violin creating a stunning musical irony and opposition which then merges into one melody that itself gives you a perfect musical image of the title of the piece Shadow of Doubt. You will genuinely appreciate the sound of the violin here not as an instrument for setting the mood of romanticism but a piece accentuating the conflict. Complete and utter greatness, if I may say so myself  .

Well, I got hold of this wonderful piece a while ago and burnt it. Taking it to school, I decided to anylize the piece. Sure it would have been easier to search for the sheet online for about 3 - 4 hours.. and probably come up empty.. so I decided to do the inevitable. Figure out the first section on my own. To my surprise, I was successful... so here it is, the key notes of the shadow of doubt by Yoko Kanno.

Naturally, the music is written in D Minor, as I noticed. Well, it's a moving piece and most pieces that give you such a feeling are usually in minor keys. D minor has the same structure of the F major key.. meaning, you flatten B as you run it's scale.
Enough of the preliminary stuff, now let's get to business.

You first hear the bass, the cello to be exact, before you begin to hear the violins.
The notes for the cello are as follows.

D A:- Bb F:- E G:- F D':-
la me:- fa doh:- ti ray:- doh:- lah':- (in solfa notation..as in doh ray me fah soh la ti doh' ))

That goes on continously, and after 31.8 seconds, you hear the first potion of the melody. (Same key)

C D: A D:- C. D. A D:-
soh la me lah soh la me lah:-

Then the fast tempo violin rhythm that goes next are semi quavers in the form of

A A A G F E D
me me me ray doh ti la

D D D A D A A A G F E D
la la la me la me me me ray doh ti la (in solfa notation)

The .'s represent short notes that run while the :- represents rest and just ' means an octave higher. If you're able to get a hold of the song, please do and take those notes above to a keyboard or any instrument you can play.. It'll definitely work.. and until you get the sheet for shadow of doubt, you can enjoy the first portion of the music yourself, playing it urself.. Enjoy!
