What bitter, bitter irony.
For years, Christians were persecuted for their faith; they were thrown to the lions for entertainment, they were tortured, and they were murdered, but they refused to renounce their belief in God. Now that Christianity is at the top of the heap, what do they do? Why, they persecute every other religion, of course-- including (perhaps especially) atheism. It's traditional. I realize that not all Christians espouse this philosophy. However, it seems fairly popular among those who can hide behind pseudonyms-- anonymity means never having to say you're sorry. "The Constitution of the United States, for instance, is a marvelous document for self-government by Christian people. But the minute you turn the document into the hands of non-Christian and atheistic people they can use it to destroy the very foundation of our society." --Pat Robertson, The 700 Club, Dec. 30, 1981 "The notion that faith in Christ is to be rewarded by an eternity of bliss, while a dependence upon reason, observation, and experience merits everlasting pain, is too absurd for refutation, and can be relieved only by that unhappy mixture of insanity and ignorance called 'faith.'" - Robert Ingersoll
