Choose your Helper?

Ok, I see on the intro screen it says that if you hold down the right button combination while chossing your character, you can select your helper. Well, how do you find these button combinations? Any ideas?

PS. Don't just say go through them all systematically, that would take more time than i have.

oh, hahahaha, that was witty. Anyone know a website or something. It dosn't tell me on gamefaqs, so any other one's you know about?
