About the ib and html codes - Extent of usage

hey guys, call me stupid but i just want to know if these codes can be used outside this forum?
i mean, can i use them in my personal email(, [color][/color], [img][/img], etc.)

are they made "exclusively" here for this forum? ???

im guessing u can use them for emails but im not certain
