... is it really worth your time to do this? You are apparently very talented to recreate this complex game in shockwave, but... why? A perfectly emulated arcade version of xmen vs sf is playable online using any of the emulators using kaillera.com's netplay.... roms at www.mame.dk
How are you getting all the sprites anyway? Ripping them from the emulated games right? you must be..... Sorry if i'm sounding negative or anything but i just feel like this is a lost cause.. I mean hardly any people play xmen vs sf on kaillera as it is... wouldn't it just be better if someone somehow made a ranking system for the emulated version, because it is already perfectly emulated? Also do you truly think you can get this game to be balanced like the arcade version? There are so many complications in a round of xmen vs sf ... different moves affect characters differently, how many hits, how far they will fly off....btw super hurricane kicks do not suck ppl in from across the screen .... good luck but I sincerely doubt you will be able to recreate the arcade....Once the roms for marvel vs sf and marvel vs capcom are released, then this project would be interesting..... it would be neat to see chars from all 3 games combined into 1 game..... until then this project seems pointless (a perfect online version already exists), and rather impossible (if you can balance the chars out like the arcade, you might as well go work for capcom)... So anyway interesting project but you might want to think about its future..... (Edited by GokouGT at 1:03 pm on Aug. 15, 2001) |

You obviously haven't gone to the end of the SCore board. WE get hundreds of NEW people playing this game every hour. Over 2000 people in the past 2 days. So it's unpopular, this is enough for us to be happy with it so far. It still has a long way to go, a lot of features that aren't implimented in any emulators and plus, with this, there's no downloading or installing anything except an already, plugin that most people should or already have. Go play your emulator, we're having fun right here.

Well GokouGT, you did a great job at sounding negative.
Yes there are emulators available, but you are missing the point (as lefty has pointed out). In order to play the emulator, you have to download it, and a huge ROM file (around 20-25 megs zipped per game, and 80+megs when uncompressed). The purpose of this project is to create something that can be played on a Pentium 200, PC or Mac equivalent, with a 56k connection and after streaming a small file that would be just over a meg. Also, do NOT forget that this will be a 4-player version of the game. No emulation or arcade version of X vs. SF exists that would offer this level of interactivity. Do you know how many people laughed in my face when I said I was going to create something like this on shockwave? Well, almost all of them. Not a single person (except the people who saw the project grow from the start) thought that shockwave could handle this sort of thing. Seeing how 90% of all shockwave/flash games on the Internet are a remake of Pong, I can understand their response. As for authenticity, that is a two-sided coin. Yes it would be nice to have a perfect recreation of the original, but do we really want all of the bugs and infinite combos with that copy? Do you know how many times I played the arcade and wished that the hurricane kick WOULD suck in the other player? I am betting that there are hundreds of people who wished to see features in the arcade version, but had no way of seeing them happen. Well, this is what this project is about. Any changes, bugs or features will and have been implemented due to user requests. No one here is making any money, and no one here cares about that. The only thing we care about is making sure that the users come back to play the game. Nothing else matters. |

You know I agree with Tmy and Lefty .. but at the same time we also accept your critisizim. This game is about the people .. the users who will play this game and enjoy it for what its worth.
When this project was originally started we knew right from the beginning that it was going to remain open for the users. Obviously the users love this game, over the last 24 hours we've had a Massive turn out and they seem to enjoy playing a game where you do not have to download a huge emulator/rom package. None-the-less, we're glad that you voiced your opinion, and I'm glad you feel better. But as for the game, it will continue whether or not you like the idea. |

sigh.... guys you really shouldn't worry about what some of these people say, especially a DBZer, they usually like to just blurt crap out.
And... Mr. GokouGT, if you looked, this is more like a XvsSFvsMSH game, since 20 people will be picked, along with spider-man, etc. So this game will rock. And to the Admin, I can't really do much in flash and that jazz, but i am an artist, and a pretty honest person, so you have my FULL support on this project, and anything i could do to help, would be my pleasure. |

dbz'er? heh that's just a stupid nick..... don't judge a book by its cover.... but anyway...... of course the project will go on, and more power to you guys..
just 1 thing, about downloading HUGE roms that are 20 mb (which only need 1 download) ... well... for cable/dsl connections that's a snap... and in reality you need it if you want a lag free game of anything.... so will the shockwave game be smooth with 56k? because if the cable people are going to dominate the dialups, then doesn't that defeat the purpose? sorry if i made anyone mad with my comments everything has to have some criticism.... and really... good luck guys, i would really like to see the finished version .... just sucks that there are hardly any people who actually play the real thing.... o well cyas, btw those translucent fireballs are pretty cool ![]() edit : 1 last thing though.... you are really ripping sprites from the emu versions right? or are u capturing the frames some other way and that's why the resolution is so small? just asking cuz if you are ripping from the emus, that means you can only use chars from xmen vs sf , marvel super heroes, or the alpha series right? not guys from .. say... marvel vs capcom? Yo, TMyApp
I like this shit ur doing its cool keep it up . I see a lot of potential in this game. I am a bum programmer, went to school and paid 13k for it but still can't find a job, I did farely well in my courses. It's sad to see that appearance and attitude come before knowledge  . If ur a sexy bitch with a fake attitude ur hired and if not u'll have to work extra hard and maybe you'll be lucky. Any ways if u need a extra programmer in your team i'll be at your disposal. If not, then shiet it was worth a try. TeRRoRiZeRXX |

I play Xmen vs STF on mame all the time but what I really look forward to in this game is the 4 player option.
