Incentive for the n00b-killers - Give 'em a reason to fight the low ranks

Before I state my idea, you all need to realize that I don't really give a rat's ass one way or the other about rank and n00b-killers, 'cause I don't fight for rank anyways. However, a lot of people around here have been bitching about it, and it got me thinking...

Most "n00b-killers" only care about their rank. They play all day, and if they aren't already in the top 20, I'm sure they check the top scores page constantly so that they can find someone ranked higher than them in the chat room (and that of course, is the one and only way they'll risk losing to someone better than themselves). They want to get to #1, and they don't care how. That being said, why would they want to fight someone that's capable of beating them (who's ranked under them), when they could just kill a n00b and get the same amount of points? So here's my idea...

The scoring system should remain exactly the same as it is now, with a few minor exceptions...
I think that you should get an additional 10 points for beating someone ranked between 51-100, an additional 20 points for beating someone ranked between 26-50, an additional 30 points for beating someone ranked between 11-25, and an additional 50 points for beating someone in the top 10. This would accomplish a few things.

1. Higher-ranked people would actually have incentive to play lower-ranking people that don't play the game all freakin' day like they do.

2. A lot of people that are ranked higher (e.g. top 20) who got there legitimately still have a hard time catching up with the true n00b-killers who are ranked in the top 5. Just as an example, I've noticed the top 1 and 2 spots having a 1000 point lead over the #3 spot. That's just ridiculous. Now, this means that either they don't ever lose (unlikely), or they fight nothing but n00bs. With an extra 30 point incentive for beating someone between the ranks of 11-25, and an extra 50 points for beating someone in the top 10, these high ranking n00b-killers truly would have a reason to play someone with some skill. Now it would be possible to maintain rank in a respectable manner, instead of fighting nobodies all day.

3. On top of giving the n00b-killers incentive to play low ranking people, the low ranking people would get an extra little bonus if they happen to win the match, thus making it a bit easier to advance in rank. Originally, I thought that the "bonus" should only be given to people that win against someone with lower rank, but I'm sure it would be a hell of a lot easier to code if the bonus was given based solely on the rank of the person that was defeated. Besides, what's an extra 30-50 points when you're already getting half of their points as it is?

4. Have you ever had a high rank, but then lost interest because you were tired of busting your ass to maintain it, and only getting 10 points per fight? Well, with my idea, you could play against other skilled fighters, and get rewarded for it if you win! If you truly are the best, why should you have to play all day to prove it?

My idea, of course, would by no means completely eliminate n00b-killers. But it would surely increase your chances of actually getting to play and have a rematch with them, seeing as they have more to gain (anywhere from an additional 10-50 points) than lose (a measly 10 points). At any rate, I think that my idea would make things...interesting. TMyApp, if you're reading this and like my idea, keep in mind that the numbers I threw out were just as an example. If you feel that the "bonuses" should be raised or lowered, that's cool (it's your game, after all :colgate: ).

So what do you think, good idea, or bad idea?

Now I actually WANT the system to change, because, now the greedy players will also take the risk of fighting others player (10-30) so, they dont have to fight their ass off!

Exactly. It would still be possible for truly skilled players (e.g. Nferno, fear_tetsuo, etc.) to get a substantial lead by beating the top 25 people with this system, but the point is, there's more in it for them to want to fight you in the first place. It's a win-win situation.

Plus, I think it would inspire some serious competion with the people that are the most active (the top 50).

i agree also. there are too many ppl trying to keep there rank up and killing alot of newbies. just want to tell u guys im not a newbie. its just a different name.
