I'm not sure what it is. Have you tried to change the background, scan your comp for spyware or virus?

i'm not sure i never had this problem... have you tried the scanner yet, also try changeing your backround like windarossa said... other wise go to the restore computer option and set back as far as you can

to get there, go to programs, then accessories, then system tool, then system restore that should work

I wouldnt have posted this topic unless I had already done all of that..I can easily get rid of this by using these disks that I have that restore my pc to the way it was before I bought it..But I dont wanna lose all of my music etc...

EDIT: LMFAO I just figured out how to get rid of it..you just had to go to Start, settings, active desktop, and uncheck view as web page..Now I just gotta get rid of the spyware =\

My cousin had that same thing. He told me if that happens, you're screwed.

He had to reboot his computer after that. How do i know he knows what he's talking about? He owns a computer shop where he repairs, sell computer and other pherirals (not sur ehow to spell that word).

so ya, there might not be anything else to do. I suggest backing up your files and rebooting your computer.

i had that before and you need to do a system restore if you have windows xp and itll go away but if you dont normally make restore points like most people(includin me) looks like if you want it gone ur gonna have to redo ur comp system. and you mine wasnt the back ground it was actually a window so changin the background prob wont help.

First off...Dump your temp internet files. Update your windows...make sure you get everything that is listed as "critical"... This "may" correct the problem.

Secondly...Try using more than one Spyware and Virus removal program. No one companies product is exstensive enough to cover ALL possible spyware, malware, and viruses being progamed THIS VERY INSTANCE!

When using multiple "cleansing" programs. You will see that one program often detects malicious items on your computer that the other program did not.
So using more than one spyware and anti-virus program doubles your protection.

Also...
Try deactivating your "active desktop" via your desktop properties. (i/e: right click, select properties.)

Also, check to see what "homepage" your browser is set to open up to.

Your active desktop can be told to display your browsers homepage... there is a known malware that changes your browsers homepage to "whatever"..usualy it's a porn related site, but in this case i think it is simply a single "scam" page.
That page in it's self could contain the code to keep reseting your browsers homepage..wich of course effects your active desktop..and your active desktop is told to open and display online content upon boot up...thus opening up the "scam" page from off the internet every time you reboot your computer....do you see the loop thats occurring here?

And lastly if all else fails, reformat your hard drive.... or call a tech.

Thanks for the help everyone, but ive corrected the problem now..It was as Nosoul4evr said it was a scam page and it was programmed to reset my homepage over and over again when I change it so that the ad or whatever you want to call it would be on my desktop..Im glad it wasnt something porn stuck on there because my families kids are always on the computer when they come visit me and my gf..

yeah i fixed it befor ei mean it resets your homepage to like search or something get SpyBot Residents very good at protecting changes but i have 7 programs guaranteed to fix my computer and 1 mind to fix it manually without going crazy...i suggest you either get ad-watch or a program that prevents some auto changes and what was your cousin doing download of illegal sites or porn....that's how i got mine but fixed it
