Computer player annoys me - The cp gets close and i cant attack him

When i play story mode I get really frustrated when the computer player gets too close to me and I can't attack him on the other hand he can attack me and thats how I lose and every cp does it apart from onslaught. Is there something I can do to stop this from happening
