[ dawn of rage release info ] - Official info thread

and so, on April 7th, 2004... at dawn... we entered a new era... of RAGE!!

welcome to the "official" post for the Dawn of Rage release of SFO... lots of changes (and fewbugs, i hope)

first, the most obvious, a new character: Ken Masters (and in turn, Dark Ken for the VIP's) has been released. His moves can be found below (unless u were smart enough to visit nosoul's site yesterday.. :biggrin: )


REGULAR KEN:

Hadoken DOWN, FORWARD + PUNCH
Shoryuken FORWARD, DOWN, FORWARD + PUNCH
Tatsumaki Senpyu Kyaku DOWN, BACK + KICK

SHORRYU REPPA DOWN, FOWARD + 2 PUNCHES
SHINRYUKEN DOWN, FOWARD + 2 KICKS
SHIPPU-JINRAI-KYAKU DOWN, BACK + 2 KICKS

DARK KEN:

HADRYUKEN DOWN, BACK + 2 PUNCHES
RAGING SHINRYUKEN P1 + P1 + FORWARD + K2 + P3 (level 3)


... and of course, lets not forget the "heart" of this event: RAGE FACTOR!

what is it you say? well, this seems like a little cut'n'paste job from the loading screen info... *cough*...

It seems that for far too long have the VIP, NWO and Mod members of the community had access to Demon Rage. With it, they were able to empower their heroes with its dark powers, and defeat the "true" fighters of SFO (ie: the regular users? ) but NO LONGER!

In this new era, not even they are safe from the "Rage Factor"! Every time you beat a VIP, NWO or a MOD member, you will gain 4 Rage Factor points, every time they beat you, you will lose 2 points. Your Rage Factor is always displayed as soon as you enter the chat rooms, or in a chat-box after a match. When it is above zero, your character will glow with dark aura at the beginning of a round (indicating that he can posses the Rage). When your ready, press DOWN, BACK + START keys to "Embrace the Rage", and use 1 of your Rage Factor points. When you do, the power that you have obtained from the VIP/NWO/MOD members will be passed on to you, but, at what cost to your hero's soul?

everyone starts off with -3 RF points (ie: it is the lowest you can have), and you can rack'em'up as high as +3 points. each point can be used towards one character, for one round (i think ya'all will get a hang of it once you start using it). also, in the Story Mode, your Rage Factor points will NOT be used up (thus allowing you to "practice" with your dark characters). and last, your RF points will be cleared/erased as soon as you log out or exit the game (ie: they are only saved while you are playing)

... speaking of "dark characters", some new ones have been released... including Shadow Lady, and Sentinel Prime (please note that Dark Ken is a VIP only char, his powers cannot be possessed by the Rage Factor). Some of the new moves are listed below:


SHADOW LADY:

Dril: BACK, DOWN, FORWARD + PUNCH
Homing Missiles: BACK, DOWN, FORWARD + KICK
Hyper Spining Bird Kick: DOWN, BACK + 2 KICKS

SENTINEL PRIME:

Stasis Field: DOWN, BACK + 2 PUNCHES


also, ALL of the old characters have been tweaked, and an uber-ton of bugs have been fixed (new ones added of course to replace them, or, things would not be the same around here) :biggrin: ... you'll notice changes like Drill Clawbeing back (but using up your hyper bar) and Evil Ryu being able to do his regular air Shin/Haduken with a DOWN, BACK motion of the "stick" (if there was a stick)...

Story Mode has changed, the old "stories" will nowbe saved, so you can revisit them as much as you want (and "enjoy" them with the tweaked/changed DOR AI) ... and if you look closer at the grayed out sections, you can also see a preview of things to come (more on that, in the upcoming months)

... top scores have reset, and rest assured that when they are archived (in the next day or two) i'll make sure to ADD points to those who cheated your way to the top.. thats right, i will award each of you negative 100,000 points! .. no no, i insist... it is the least i can do :biggrin:

and, that pretty much covers it...

last but not least, i give you a new member of the NWO: SSJKarma ... may his cruel hand smite the enemies of the empire... yada yada yada... just pray he will still be here in 4 months (ala the "mod curse") :biggrin:

what's next ?? well.. version 1.1b .. in the next 24 hours or so (to fix the more "annoying" bugs seen today)... and the downloadable version!

any suggestions to gdet the game 2 stop freezing? i cant do anything put stare gazingly at the menu. oit messes up on the game wit any char. (when i can log on that is) viper said 2 empty ur cashe. hhow do i do that?
