Roll i hope u found the answer to your question because i don't think its a good idea to let this topic continue!!!! Why?? Some people might find it offensive because u never know they might be someone who is gangasta.......and get offended because they don't say homie in a bad way but as a way of saying hi. SO TOPIC CLOSED!!!.
M0u5y... I suppose you're right. I just worry anyway, though. I feel like sometime soon, this will backfire somehow; not in a small way, but in a large way. One that people will fight over, and possibly destroy each other with. I'm just wondering why that kind of risk is okay to everyone, and why they accept calling themselves what used to be such a horrible word.

I actually dont think this is racism...Whatever culture you are..there is an offensive term like that. Personally, I've been called "Cracka" by some guys (white and black) in a non-threatening way at school..now I didnt freak out or give a lecture on not to be racist...I found it funny, cuz it is! So as far as I'm concerned..if a black man has no problem being called a "homie" by another person..hey right on do what ya want.

Dang Roll. You are so direct. "I want answers NOW!"
Ok, here you go. Like some stated before they do it to sound cool. There are so many stars today that just use the word just to use it. And so the little kids go around saying that word thinking it is so cool because their role model used it, unaware that the word means something bad, degrating and disrespectful. And some keep use it because it's probably become a habit by now or they just don't care. What I think is really stupid? Is that a black person will become angry if a person of another race says it. When I think it is worst when a person of the same race says it. When it means the same thing all around. Although they think it (homie) means friend/homie. Kester: Ooo, you went to Africa. Why? What part? (sorry to go off topic) Anyways, then again people in Africa don't even know what F**k means and they don't do anything if you flick them off. Because they don't know what you are saying.
