Anybody who has played Capcom vs. SNK 2 knows how things work in that game.
You choose three characters. As you fight the first of the opponent's characters both your healths go down as attacks are landed. When one character is K.O.'ed then the next character steps in, the winner of the last match retaining the health that he lost in the first match. Why not have this in this game? Characters choose two characters at the start. The first round features a fight between the first two chosen fighters. The second round features a fight between the winner and the other's second chosen fighter. The third round would be both second chosen fighters (if it gets that far). If anybody else has played Capcom vs. SNK 2 then please help anybody who doesn't understand... I am having trouble explaining it.

I've never played that game but it sounds like you are describing a team battle. I've played these on DOA2 and Mortal Kombat. Basicly you chose a first fighter and a second fighter and so does your opponent. The first two fight and when someone's fighter is beaten, their second fighter takes over. One difference though, their is only 1 round and as soon as the first fighter falls, the second takes over. Also, DOA2 has the ability for up to 5 members on a team .

That's the idea... but in CvSNK2, though, the screen refreshes itself and the two fighters participating in the next round are in their places, rather than having a character leap off-screen like in the Hyper crossovers (MvC2) and in MK. Well put otherwise, 2000warrior. It can only be a two-player team battle for now, due to a lack of characters, but once more characters are added, it can be increased to... however many TMyApp feels like. It all rests on TMyApp anyways... the U.S.TMyApp...

well, for now, we will go with the 2 on 2 mode similar to the one seen in the original arcade game, but, with 4 players

I can't wait until the shockwave interface is completed with all the players and the tag team modes:cheesy:
