R-type final - Who's played this final in the series?

I'd like to see some discussion of R-Type Final here. This game is just too good to NOT talk about it. The 100+ ships unlockable, the multiple paths through each level, the system's depth... it is all a Godsend for us old-school gamers who like their games hard and their enemies plentiful and have the power to kill in one hit.

Gradius series > R-Type series

Gradius is the embodiment ofunbeatable space shooters, R-Type 3 for SNES is damn hard though, but Gradius 3 is just old school.

I saw this game on tech tv...its pretty nice..2 bad i dont have a ps2...the only r-type game i ever played was Super R-type..

I don't have too much experience with the Gradius series, so can't talk about it much, but I have heard very good things about it. What's the system like in it?

I saw R-Type Final on a show called xplay
They reviewed and they showed a rather intresing level
