How to master Ryu! (By Tucan)
(Tips for Beginners)
Ryu to me is one of the best characters ever made in video game history ^_^. He has a great variety of high and lows that can easily slide into the next move. For example Ryu does a weak punch, weak punch, then a low kick, then a hado-ken, then the dragon kick. That for you is an easy 5 hit combo. ^_^

#1 tip: A great tip with Ryu is to play him defensively. Now I'm not saying block with Ryu as much as possible then attack, I am talking about anticipating and striking^_^. Like try to wait for the attack. When an opponent jumps into the air do his rising uppercut. When the opponent is in a standing position all you have to do is batter them with the hado-ken. Over and Over then the opponent is forced to blow back projectiles. This is great against close range attackers such as wolverine or what ever. People think that by doing this the person has a "n" branded to his forehead for newbie. This however is not true. This is actually an expert tactic ^_^. The opponent like I said earlier has to retaliate with either projectiles or jump over them, Ryu can then do his rising uppercut or back up and do his dragon kick. When in a "capcom vs." or a "street fighter vs." title they usually allow Ryu to do a air hado-ken and an air shinku-hado-ken making Ryu near invincible but the only way to beat Ryu is to catch him off his mistakes making a newbie user with Ryu and an expert wolverine against the newbie no problem. For instance the newbie can follow tactic 1 by blowing hado-kens and the expert can just jump over it one by one until he gets to the newbie and beats the sh** out of him. Which makes the second rule come into play. ^_^

#2 tip: TIMING, TIMING, TIMING. Timing in any fighting game is the ultimate thing needed. Timing every blow and attack is of the essence in order to master Ryu. Everything falls into play when an excellent hado-ken and rising uppercut comes into play. If you want to live and keep from getting between a rock and a hard spot you must remember timing. With the perfect timing you can gain the upper hand in the very beginning of the game. Timing is perfect if you want to catch our opposition of guard. This tactic will not even allow your opponent to get close to you. But when an opponent is pulverizing you, you must remember the next tip. ^_^

#3 tip: BLOCK and AVOID. Blocking is the key to a good game. When trapped into a corner don't panic, BLOCK! Then when he is off guard avoid (or attack with a good combo). Like when he tries to trip you jump over him. Once you jump over him turn the tables with the next rule. ^_^

#4 tip: COOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSS! Turn the table with a simple or mean combo^_^. No opponent stands a chance when you have a good combo card up your sleeves . (It is like playing uno [one-on-one style.] Hide your skip, and reverse cards, when near the end combine the likes and colors and finish off your opponent.) Every person can come up with a combo but with timing and patience the combo can obliterate an entire player. When you make a combo start off with weak moves and then slide into the more stronger and advance moves. One of my favorite combos is weak punch, weak punch, and a crouching weak kick into a hado-ken then slide into a dragon kick. That will mess up your opponent. So remember the rules with Ryu: defense, timing, blocking and avoiding (or blocking and combos), and creating combos and you will be good to go for any match. But these my friends are just the basic knowledge all players must have. Let
