The problems of vip's and non-vips - It could be worse, but it isn't...

We all know that VIP's are now helping keep this game afloat by donating money to help TMyApp's glorius quest for an online game that all can enjoy...

And we know that VIP's get perks:
-Hidden Characters
-VIP Recognition (In Chat)
-VIP Recognition (In Game)
-VIP Recognition (In Forum)
-Early play tests before new version is released
-and many more.

Let me start off that I think VIP's are great. Sure it gets annoying hearing their special sound status when they enter the server but its worth it for what they do to help TMyApp. I myself am a Non-Vip and I plan to convert into a VIP later this year

The only problem with this is the whiny Non-Vips that dont get anything special, just a regular game. This isn't necessarily bad, but it could possibly split the game in half once more VIP's arrive. N-Vips would despise VIPS and VIPS would think N-Vips are stupid. N-Vips would be made fun of because "They don't have a P2P account." or something of that matter. Look at Graal for instance, once a game free to everyone, the game was sucessful on every possible scale. But once the people started making it pay only it totally ruined the game, tearing the game population into two factions, the N-Vips and the Vips. There would be two different groups of individuals against one another, even though the game is still free regardless, the perks make the concept just as alive...

"you do not pay to play"

does that mean you can compare a game like graal... (dubya tee eff is it ? that zelda online ? )
answers no !
you can't compare a game where you have no choice but to pay to actually play the damn game !

a good example of this would be the game RUNESCAPE...
people have an already great RPG game which attracts about the same number of people as this game ! needless to say that the game named RUNESCAPE is actually a PAY TO PLAY game !

IE:
you get UNLIMITED FREE PLAY. you have your character, you can do a lot of quests. you have a certain number of weapons at your disposals ! but the fact is... RUNESCAPE, you have to play if you want the real FULL GAME account ! which gives you even more quests, even more weapons, a lot more quests !

has it made people getting jealous of FULL ACCOUNT against those who doesn't ?

why ?
because people there have already much of the game without paying for it... they just say, you want more, then pay for it !

they payed for more, why would they have nothing in exchange ?

yes we do, but would you rather have a GOOD version coming out, or having a LOTS OF BUGS version that people will get you lots more flaming because of ####### bug !

Only the bratty non-vips would be split into the nonvip faction. I mean sure, I would love to use Evil Ryu, but I know it's not going to happen.

It's never going to get as extreme as you think it is. VIP's will not begin to hate the dwindling number of non-VIPs because the number is growing ever smaller. It's surprising how many VIPs we have already.

*sigh*... well... lets see... i did create 7 playable characters, whole buncha' helpers... 4 player mode online... events like NOTS and the upcoming DWX... ability for everyone to choose the next chararacter in the game.. and.. my god... 99.9% of the game content... ALL for the "non vip players"..

how much more "extra" can i give you people ?? as mentioned above... u have the whole damn game ... u'rs.. FREE ... can it really get better than that ?? :biggrin:

also.. i think everyone is a bit confused about VIP's...

1st off, no one is "asking" you to donate.. if you read the vip faq u'll have a whole buncha reason why someone should NOT donate (and how there are other ways to help) ... the people who donate do it not because i asked them to, or because they "had to" (well, maybe a few of them did it for the perks.. but NOT most... trust me on that )... but because they care for the project and the community... and want to show their support

the "perks" they get are not designed to "make people want to donate".. but as the "least i can do to thank them" (you can ask the first few VIP's about that... who donated back when there were NO perks )

well.. anyway... i know that in the end i can't win this one... n00bs will always complain how its "not fair that they get 99.9% of the game for free but can't get that last 0.1% of the perks"...

...i'll just let the others do the rest of the flaming :biggrin:

and as tmy's always said this is a non profit game and will always remain free to the users...the only reason that the vip's were needed is cos he couldn't afford the server charges so ppl started to donate to the game then the vip status was made

Hmm, I already knew that you dont have to pay to play. In Graal, a non subscriber gets access to FULL LEVELS AND SERVERS, can change their appearance just like anyone else by loading GIFS... the only difference is that you can't save your character if you have a non-subscriber account.

And indeed people ARE JEALOUS, SSJKarma, look around you! People are posting about Evil Ryu this, and Evil Ryu that, why can't non-vips get this or that... are they neccessarily jealous?

This is where I think your going a bit too far, you keep your "facts" to yourself, because I HAVE defeated VIP's AND LOST to them all together. This post wasn't even meant to be an excuse, it was actually creditiing VIP's in the first place. You have obviously blown the topic out of proportion.

And ofcourse it wont become something extreme, but there will be quarrels, and rivialries, it happens to any online game with a similar basis, and this game wont be any different.

And to TMyApp, To Make your Application? Ah, it was worth a try I suppose

I am not trying to post in a negative way, VIPs will get benefits because they help the game the way they do, they help reduce costs for you, and anybody that runs a project like yours knows that money comes into play, money helps, and yes I beleive that most of these people want to help you honestly and genuinely, but I also think that there are people who did it for the perks, ofcourse I think that if people are willing to put money on the table to help you achieve what you want to do they should be rewarded one way another!

But take into consideration, after the game gets even more developed in the near future, that there will be problems like this. No it isn't some Holy War between the VIP's and the N-VIP's, but situations may happen. You making a great game and I think you should continue to do so!

Most of you people have blown this topic off of what it orginally meant to say, that people may have problems with this VIP thing (people aren't PERFECT, you aren't going to get them the way you WANT THEM) so when they starting b!tching and whining and acting like F@ggots, deal with them! In Graal, a non subscriber gets access to FULL LEVELS AND SERVERS, can change their appearance just like anyone else by loading GIFS... the only difference is that you can't save your character if you have a non-subscriber account. And indeed people ARE JEALOUS, SSJKarma, look around you! People are posting about Evil Ryu this, and Evil Ryu that, why can't non-vips get this or that... are they neccessarily jealous? no! Do they WANT THE PERKS regardless? Of course! "the facts is... you guys are just jealous and since you lose to people like us VIPs, your giving yourself lots of excuses !" This is where I think your going a bit too far, you keep your "facts" to yourself, because I HAVE defeated VIP's AND LOST to them all together. This post wasn't even meant to be an excuse, it was actually creditiing VIP's in the first place. You have obviously blown the topic out of proportion. And ofcourse it wont become something extreme, but there will be quarrels, and rivialries, it happens to any online game with a similar basis, and this game wont be any different. And to TMyApp, To Make your Application? Ah, it was worth a try I suppose I am not trying to post in a negative way, VIPs will get benefits because they help the game the way they do, they help reduce costs for you, and anybody that runs a project like yours knows that money comes into play, money helps, and yes I beleive that most of these people want to help you honestly and genuinely, but I also think that there are people who did it for the perks, ofcourse I think that if people are willing to put money on the table to help you achieve what you want to do they should be rewarded one way another! But take into consideration, after the game gets even more developed in the near future, that there will be problems like this. No it isn't some Holy War between the VIP's and the N-VIP's, but situations may happen. You making a great game and I think you should continue to do so! Most of you people have blown this topic off of what it orginally meant to say, that people may have problems with this VIP thing (people aren't PERFECT, you aren't going to get them the way you WANT THEM) so when they starting b!tching and whining and acting like F@ggots, deal with them!
