[ sfo's 4 year anniversary release ] - Official anniversary discussion

aahh... it seems like yesterday i was staying up all night ... in order to release XvsSF 0.1a ... and now... i'm ... still staying up... the whole night... releasing the 4 year Anniversary Collection edition of SFO :biggrin:

i will make another thread that talks about mCodes as well as reflects on the last 4 years of our community... here, i'll simply go over the changes to the latest version of the game (1.3c) ... the way i have always done in the past...

first off, we have a brand new chat server, thanks to our good friend Dark_Paladin_X ... he did a ton of work trying to get it up... AND... didn't give up after countless times of emailing me... so... that's a good sign that we should have a brand new stable server from now on...

also, thanks to endless bugging by certain few members (mainly one... and you know who you are... *cough*... blanka09 .. *cough*... who managed to probably mention this new change 100 times more than Nferno666 ... for a total of 10,100 times ) ... 8 brand new music tracks have been added to the game ... all were compressed from high-quality remix versions of our favorite SF related themes (most from SSF2 ... which should bring back a lot of memories for us "old-timers" )

new "expert" game mode has been added ... (picked during the character selection screen) .... think of it, as "turbo" hopped-up on steroids and crazy glue at the same time :biggrin: ... despite that fact, let's all remember the intro of SFO .. and the fact that "winner's don't use drugs" ...

speaking of that.... winners also DON'T use cheats... so... a number of new routines have been added to SFO... at this point... even if you mention or even think about cheating... u'r account will be auto-terminated, and Nferno666 will be on his way to your house with a bag of oranges

... also, some new "psychedelic" game effects have been added to all of the dark characters.... feel free to turn them "on" or "off" via the "induce seizures" box in the options menu of the game...

and speaking of options... SFO will now save u'r custom keys, settings, game-recorder games... THE WORKS !! .. (it even remembers the last login you used) ... both the downloadable and the web versions of the game will benefit from this... however, the settings will be stored locally... so.. when u switch computers, u'll have to change/save them all over again...

what else ?? oh yes... all users will now start 0 Rage Factor points... so it should be easier than ever to gain and use them in the game... which is a good thing, considering Sakura has how fell before the Rage Factor... as of this release :biggrin:

and did someone say "new chat skins" ?? yep... we got em...

unfortunately, the ones created by the users (in that... thread i created a while back... *cough* ) ... were... tad-bit ... "not there yet"... but, since a number of people were bugging me about this feature... here it is... for all to enjoy ... (just type: /newskin ... in any of the chat servers to flip through the skins... your final choice will of course be saved and remembered by the game when you leave and comeback)

... also, the semi-useless feature that is the Game Recorder should nowbe some 100 times faster than before... (no more waiting for hours as your games import/export) ... the export format looks a little different now (it will have less encrypted characters), however, if you have old saved games they will still work.. (but will load just as slowly... until you convert them to the new format by importing/exporting in this new version of the game)

and of course... a number of characters were tweaked (some slowed down... some sped up... some, NOT allowed to do infinite jumps in the air in between their optic blasts :biggrin: ) ... same goes for helpers... TLF Venom should not be as vicious... and the new Guile/Cody should not stay on the screen as long...

well... that's it for the main changes... but, a ton of other "little things" were also added as well... better profanity filter, new server-anti-leave-game functions, etc etc etc... and of course there is the whole "brag feature".. (which allows the Mod and VIP members to create their own custom outro messages)... BUT... that will be discussed in it's own/proper thread...

and i think that's it...

Nice update tmy probably the best one so far!! Sad thing is cheaters always find a way to cheat..=/ sg aint the issuse anymore in sfo its lg..lg=lag gear......ppl have been purposefully trying to lag themselves to win...by either defragmenting there comp while playing sfo or by running 10 programd and running sfo fullscreen...They do it on purpose to lag win..i was wonder next update if there could be a certain thing like the sg firewall in sfo but with lg like if the persons game all of a sudden lags really bad in like mid game theyd get kicked .sorta like the sg kick thing but with lag kicks like if youlag soo bad u get kicked..or if there is a all of a sudden increase in lag. and i dont mean like your average day lag i mean like when your ping was like 100 and then it all of a sudden jump s to like 700 during mid game..just a thought.

Well. As TMy said. I am "currently" (i don't plan on just giving up) hosting the SFO Anniversary.

Well, i didn't plan on making a lecture or story out of it, but here goes :biggrin:.

It all started about over a month ago, in a "private" place that select few visited. As we were throwing ideas about DWX. Someone (Zerocloud) mentioned a server. Considering my curious mind. I looked into it. After countless emails (emphasizing the "don't plan on giving up" part again). Conversed with TMy and we worked out to make The SFO Anniversary Server. Credit to Zerocloud for the suggestions.

I will try my best to keep it up as often as i (and my computer) can. Just remember we also have 4 more good servers that are just as good (and probably better) then mine.

Now for this new feature, I LOVE the special effect it does in VIP specials. That OWNS. The blue skin, i feel is the most interesting one out of all of them. Hopefully TremulantX will come back from the hospital with his eyes in good condition, ready to play again. :biggrin: (that last statement isn't confirmed).
