Now that I've done a bit of research, I've discovered a few things not commonly known about the Kamehameha: the fact that there are eleven variations of it:
Kamehameha-normal blast
Chaou Kamehameha-uses a lot of energy, takes longer to charge, and inflicts damage on the user's body
Kamehameha Max Power-uses ALL of the user's energy
Hana Gaeshi Kamehameha-using a Kamehameha to block/deflect another energy attack
Ashi Kara Kamehameha-the ability to shoot a Kamehameha from the feet
Magura Kamehameha-firing a Kamehameha that misses the opponent, but is then able to turn around and strike them from behind
"Fatality" Kamehameha-pretty much a Kamehameha Max Power, but uses some of the user's life energy (like Kikoho), and the user passes out afterwards.
Renzoku Kamehameha-The ability to fire more than one Kamehameha blast at the same time, each blast being at full power
Shunkan Kamehameha-The user powers up a Chaou Kamehameha, but uses the Shunkan Idou to teleport directly under or around the opponent
Waiting Kamehameha-The ability to power up a Chaou kamehameha and delay it's firing indefinately
Waza Kamehameha-the most powerful kamehameha, it taps into the user's hidden powers and potential ki to increase its power. Gohan uses this to defeat Super Perfect Cell, and it has enough energy to destroy the North Galaxy
Now, IMO, Goku in the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai, using the "Fatality" Kamehameha, could probably overpower Ryu's SHinkuu Hadoken. However, Ryu trying to use a Shinkuu Hadouken against a Chaou Kamehameha or the Waza Kamehameha in DBZ would be like Bardock's blast disappearing into Furiza's Death Ball.
