Well GokouGT, you did a great job at sounding negative.

Yes there are emulators available, but you are missing the point (as lefty has pointed out).

In order to play the emulator, you have to download it, and a huge ROM file (around 20-25 megs zipped per game, and 80+megs when uncompressed). The purpose of this project is to create something that can be played on a Pentium 200, PC or Mac equivalent, with a 56k connection and after streaming a small file that would be just over a meg. Also, do NOT forget that this will be a 4-player version of the game. No emulation or arcade version of X vs. SF exists that would offer this level of interactivity.

Do you know how many people laughed in my face when I said I was going to create something like this on shockwave? Well, almost all of them. Not a single person (except the people who saw the project grow from the start) thought that shockwave could handle this sort of thing. Seeing how 90% of all shockwave/flash games on the Internet are a remake of Pong, I can understand their response.

As for authenticity, that is a two-sided coin. Yes it would be nice to have a perfect recreation of the original, but do we really want all of the bugs and infinite combos with that copy? Do you know how many times I played the arcade and wished that the hurricane kick WOULD suck in the other player? I am betting that there are hundreds of people who wished to see features in the arcade version, but had no way of seeing them happen.

Well, this is what this project is about. Any changes, bugs or features will and have been implemented due to user requests. No one here is making any money, and no one here cares about that. The only thing we care about is making sure that the users come back to play the game. Nothing else matters.
