I attempted to start this on another forum, but it just didn't take off, so I'll try here.

Which game series was the best in Street Fighter and why? Were games better back when there were fewer options, or do the new options like air blocking/parrying allow for a better more well-rounded game?

Example:

Street Fighter II Turbo versus Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike

Was the Street Fighter games better back in the SFII series, with fewer options and more limited (but ultimately faster) combos and a lack of high-damage super moves, or are SFIII games better for having these things and more?

You can debate between any SF games with different systems to try to win the debate between old and new system's merits. Please do not compare and contrast hyper fighting (XMvSF, MSHvSF, MvC, MvC2) and your standard SF fighting games.

GO!

P.S. - keep this a debate. Don't just chime in and say, "gme x iz mah favirete!" or anything like that, please.
