[quoteost_uid0="~Mastermax~"]so jesus was just another man who died on a cross with thousands of other heretics to the roman religion.

fifty years later jesus' followers decided that the messiah was supposed to die for the "sins" of their jewish brothers. thus christianity was born. when the roman empire fell the christians were able to sell their religion to the romans by warping the bible to make it look like the jews were the ones who killed jesus and it wasn't the romans fualt.

that last paragraph is what the last pope said when announcing that the jews weren't to blame for jesus' death.

if you want me to really make you feel bad i could go into what really happened during the crusades...

ok let me help:

jews were gettin killed left and right by the romans, they knew the messiah was going to come to re establish the throne from prophesy....so when Jesus came all the jews were like: "yeehaw, man were finally gonna get rid of these romans!"

woo hoo

ok then Jesus starts talking about how he needs to die to pay the penalty for the worlds sins to save them.

this doesnt set well with the jews, they were all excited about getting rid of the roman supression....so they're kinda upset with jesus for wasting their time.

then the pharesies n' such arrest him, the jewish population is more than happy to see this guy crucified for preaching to them for a year and then not overthrowing the romans. they wanted a revolution, and they didnt get it.

so they killed him.....
true, the jews were the ones that said "crucify him"
true, the roman sodiers were the ones who beat and killed him.

but in the end everone has to blame themselves for his death.

there was no "50 years later"
after he died, his apostles started witnessing and spreading the word that he rose from the dead and why he really died instead of becoming king.

as for the history of rome and christianity this is how it really went down:

im not gonna use accurate emperor names cause im too lazy to look them up.

k, the gospel gets to rome, christians there get persecuted and thrown to lions and stuff.

out of the blue one of the emperors "sees a vision", clames hes been "converted" to christianity, and banns the persecution of christians in the roman empire.

then another emperor comes along and makes it the main religion. (sorry, just goin of memory alone)

as for warping the Bible:
the romans did plenty of that....."the pope" is a fine example.
