No points given for that last question... mastermax had it right, but he made the mistake to say DREAMCAST way before !

to be honest losts of console int he old times wanted to use internet, but none of them could since thwe internet wasn't used that much to play online.

Online gameplay started its long journey when the saturn from sega came out, later it had a blazing 28.8kbps modem that could be attached to its cart port !

the modem enabled some games like DAYTONA USA, NFL NHL and all the other ARCADE port to be able to be played online ! the blazing 28.8kbps was not sufficient tho and was generating lots of latency during the game which latency usually is transforming into lag ! thus th econsole online gameplay was too much for the console itself and didn't do very well, yet it was the first console to ever play games online !
