Is it in this context that we must see the career of jesus, a young carpenter from gailee region of notheren isreal. Offended by what he precieved as jewish reliouse and political leaders' excessive concern with money and power and by perfunctory nature of mainstream jewish religiouse practice in his time, jesus prescribed a return to the personal faith and sprituality of an early age. he eventially attracted the attention of jewish authorities in jerusalem, who regarded popular reformers as trouble makers. They turned him over to the roman governer, pontiuse pilate. jesus was improsoned, condemned, and executed by crrucifixion. his followers, the apostle, carried on after his death and sought to spread his teachings and their beleif that he had been resurrected (return from death to life) among their fellow jews.
