For those who are too lazy to press the 1st page link, here is my idea:

Maybe there should be a "Request Pause Feature".
but it would only work on 1 on 1 matches. You press 1 and gives a 5 second countdown request to the other user to accept your pause request by pressing 1 as well. The pause should last atleast go for Ten "GAME" seconds then the game resumes.
but ofcourse anybody can be disconnected in ten game seconds.
