If that is your point of view Roll of what "uninviting" might be, then that is stereotyping as well. For example: You said "strange hair do's that stick out pointing everywhere." He might not find that strange at all. I don't.

He shouldn't change his style. I doubt this will be the case but let say if you are, erm, dirty. Or maybe just got bad hygeine (did I spell that word right?), maybe you should just be a little cleaner and still have the same style that you have right now. Also iron your clothes. Make yourself look cleaner than them. Cut your nails, clean your ears, wash your face, etc etc.

People should accept him for the person he is. It doesn't matter if anything looks uninviting. The only thing uninviting is if he did have aggressive behavior like you mentioned. but he seems like a good kid so I doubt that is the case.
